Blackwell Loadmaster was established in 1956 as a small family owned automotive engineering business (R A Blackwell Engineers). Among the first products manufactured were towbars under the Loadmaster brand. The business grew quickly, and moved to a purpose built manufacturing site in Racecourse Road, Sockburn and today employs about 15 people.

Today the business is still a family concern, owned by Mark & Jackie Calcott. Towbars are still the main product but we are also market leaders in Ute and small truck decks, Bullbars, both steel and air bag approved Alloy, Nudge bars, Cargo Barriers and Load Lids.
