Big plans at Jaguar Land Rover

EV training in big numbers

Posted on 29 September 2022 by George Rose

Jaguar Land Rover have big plans to retrain their staff, and hire more, as they make the gradual shift from petrol and diesel to fully electric.

Recently JLR added plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEV) to their range, including their various flavours of Range Rover, the Discovery Sport, and the Defender. From 2024 JLR say that you will also be able to choose from the first of six new all-electric Land Rovers. They explain that this is a significant step in their vision to dramatically reduce pollution and achieve a truly sustainable future.

This is good news from JLR, and very much describes an industry in transition from internal combustion engines (ICE) to electric vehicles (EV). As the cost of EV research and development reduces, and batteries get more powerful, a future where no new ICE vehicles are sold is in sight. However, the question then shifts to whether the electricity infrastructure cope? Time for more windmills?
